Professor Fatimah Ja’afar Tahir
Fatimah Ja’afar Tahir, the second female Professor from Bauchi state and the first female Professor of Microbiology produced by Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi. Prof Fatima was appointed the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) in 2018. She was born on 8th February 1966 and undergone all her educational pursuit in Bauchi.
Her outstanding academic achievements and tertiary education beginning from Bachelor, Master and PhD degrees were obtained at ATBU Bauchi. Equally, her professional career from Graduate Assistant in 1991 to the enviable rank of Professor of Microbiology 2009, were all accomplished in ATBU Bauchi.
Professor Fatimah Tahir has over 40 publications in reputable journals and has supervised many postgraduate students at Master’s and PhD levels.
She is a fellow of the Nigerian Society for Microbiolog (NSM) and a member of other relevant learned societies, including Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST), American Society for Microbiology (ASM) and Society for Applied Microbiology (SFAM).
She has held so many administrative responsibilities in the university which include among others; Head of Department (Gombe State University), Director Academic Planning (Bauchi State University Gadau), Dean School of Postgraduate studies (ATBU), DVC Academics (NAUB), one time Acting Vice Chancellor NAUB and is currently the Vice Chancellor, Bauchi State University Gadau.
Prof Tahir has served and is serving in Governing Councils, and Boards of College of Education, Universities and many NGOs in Nigeria. A reputable researcher, Prof Tahir is lead researcher and member of many research groups in ATBU, including the Tetfund ATBU research groups and a beneficiary of the Third World Organisation of Women in Science (TWOWS) research grant award.
She is an external examiner to many other Nigerian Universities and have assessed at least 10 associate Professors/Readers up to 8 Professors for Universities across the country.
Prof Fatimah is very active in community services, contributing her quota to the development of the country.
Professor Tahir is a member of tetfund’s National Research Fund (NRF) and has for the past 10 years been a resource person on the PTDF’s panel for selection of scholars for award of fellowship.
Dr Ahmed Salisu Garba

ISAH, ABDULMUMINI PhD, M.A, B.A (Hons), PGDE
Isah Abdulmumini is the current Deputy Vice Chancellor Central Administration at Bauchi State University, Gadau, born in the year 1968 in Burra village of Ningi Local Government area, Bauchi State.
He started his primary education in Burra central primary School in the year 1974, and later proceeded to Government secondary school Burra, where he obtained his West African Examination council (WAEC) in 1985.
He then proceeded to Bayero University Kano, where he obtained his B.A. in 1991. He undertook his national youth service in Ibadan, Oyo State, at the United Secondary School, Ijokodo Sango.
He then joined the services of the College of Education, Katsina-Ala, and later joined the services of Bauchi State University, Gadau as Lecturer I. He obtained his Master of Arts in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 2001 and then to University of Bakht-Al-Ruda, Dueim, Khartoum for his Ph.D. programme, where he obtained his Ph.D (Linguistics) in 2016.
He started his working career with Bauchi State University, Gadau as Lecturer I in 2012 and rose through the ranks to become a senior lecturer in 2015, Reader in 2018 and then Professor in 2022.
As academician, he has been able to train quite a number of students both at the under graduate and post graduate levels.
He has up to eighteen (18) well written articles published in reputable and peer–reviewed journals and several conferences attendance.
He was at a time, Head of Department Nigerian Languages and Linguistics for three (3) years in Bauchi State University, Gadau. Dean, Faculty of Arts and Education Bauchi State University, Gadau.
This esteemed Professor, has served as chairman, editor, participant, member, patron, fellow and consultant to several public, professional and private institutions, councils, Chairman, member of several committees.
He is also a member of many professional bodies.
He is happily married and blessed with children.
