Professor Ahmad Abubakar assumed the Office of the Dean in January, 2024.
A native of Talata Mafara, Zamafara State, he acquired his primary and post primary education within Mafara and Sokoto axis. Subsequently, he obtained a Diploma in Da’awa and Qur’anic Studies from the Centre for Islamic Studies (1988), a Bachelor of Arts (BA) Arabic (2002), a Master of Arts (MA) Arabic (2008), and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Arabic (2011) all from the Usmanu Danfodiyo University (UDUS), Sokoto, respectively.
He taught at Sani Dingyadi Unity Secondary School between 1998 and 2004. Then worked with the Zamfara State Ministry for Religious Affairs from 2004 to 2005. Between 2005 and 2012, Prof. Ahmad was affiliated to the Zamfara State College of Education, Maru. In 2012, he joined the services of Bauchi State University (BASUG), Gadau, as Lecturer I and eventually rose to the rank of Professor in 2021. Over the years, Professor Ahmad served at different academic and administrative capacities within the University system.
He was appointed as the Head of Student Affairs Unit, BASUG (2012-2016), the Head, Department of Arabic, BASUG (2016-2019), Head of Arabic Unit, Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) (while on Sabbatical), Chairman, Central Examination Committee, BASUG (2023), Editor-in-Chief, Gadau Journal of Arts and Humanities (2023 to Date), among other responsibilities.
He is widely published in peer reviewed local and international journals of repute as he attended several academic conferences and workshops.
